Thomas approached Web Nautical to build Cattivo, a custom ERP for their jewelry business, built to bring inquiry handling, sales team management, R&D and costing, production and QC, inventory and sourcing, and shipping into one connected system. The platform also needed to coordinate two separate companies working together on every order – Gibraltar, which manages sales and customer-facing inquiries, and Cattivo, which handles the majority of production – with commission tracked automatically between them.
Ran structured discovery sessions with the client to turn a still-forming idea into a clearly defined, end-to-end ERP flow across sales, R&D, sourcing, costing, production, and QC.
Mapped all four inquiry scenarios and defined clear responsibilities for every role - Sales, R&D, Sourcing, Costing, Production, QC, Super Admin, and Vendor - and how Cattivo and Gibraltar hand work between each other.
Built the foundation for inquiry capture, sales team dashboards, and role-based access across teams.
Built the logic to route each inquiry down the correct path based on which of the four scenarios it falls into.
Built the handoff between R&D and the costing team, including the additional estimate step needed for description-only and sketch-only inquiries.
Built the flow where Cattivo's production role assigns orders to vendors, QC reviews the finished work, and failed checks route back to the vendor for correction.
Built the order handoff between Gibraltar and Cattivo, with commission tracked automatically as an order moves through both companies.
Built tools for the sourcing role to manage daily material price updates and inventory levels.
Tested every inquiry path, role handoff, and QC rework loop end-to-end before deployment on Cloudways.
Before Cattivo, the business ran its inquiry-to-delivery process across scattered channels and manual handoffs:
Inquiries came in from multiple, disconnected sources - website enquiries and manually created ones had no single system to live in or move through consistently
Custom design requests had no structured path - sketches, written descriptions, and style modifications were handled case-by-case, with no clear process for getting from a customer's idea to a costed, production-ready order
Coordination between the two companies was manual - handing an order from Gibraltar to Cattivo for production, and back again for delivery, relied on manual communication rather than a shared system
Vendor quality checks had no formal process - production was assigned to vendors, but there was no structured way to track quality checks or send work back for correction when it didn't meet the mark

With Cattivo in place, every inquiry – however it arrives or however defined it is – follows a clear, trackable path from first contact through R&D, costing, production, QC, and delivery, with roles, responsibilities, and inter-company handoffs all managed inside the same system.
A structured approach to design, development, testing, and seamless delivery.

A single ERP covering the full inquiry-to-delivery lifecycle, starting with four distinct ways an inquiry can begin:
every inquiry is reviewed by the R&D team; for description-only and sketch-only inquiries, R&D first prepares an estimate of what's needed before handing off to costing
the costing team takes over from R&D to finalize pricing and manage the order forward
once an order is confirmed, Gibraltar passes it to Cattivo, which handles the majority of production
a dedicated Production role within Cattivo assigns confirmed orders out to vendors for manufacturing
once a vendor completes a piece, QC reviews it against the order's specifications; if it doesn't pass, it's sent back to the same vendor to be corrected before moving forward
a dedicated sourcing role manages daily material price updates and keeps inventory levels current
sales team members can create and manage inquiries directly, alongside the ones coming in from the website
a super admin role has full visibility across sales, R&D, sourcing, costing, production, QC, and both companies
once QC approves an order, Cattivo sends it back to Gibraltar, which manages final delivery to the customer and retains its commission

- Thomas, Founder, Cattivo
Honestly, I knew what pieces I needed - sales, R&D, sourcing, costing, production, QC, two companies - but I couldn't picture how they should all fit together as one system. The team spent real time understanding our business and helped me think through the flow properly before building anything. Cattivo today reflects exactly how we actually work, not just what I originally described.

Cattivo shows how Web Nautical can turn a genuinely complex, multi-team, multi-company business process into one coherent ERP - without flattening the real-world nuance that made it complicated in the first place. Built on React, Node.js, and PostgreSQL, and hosted on Cloudways, the platform now carries every jewelry inquiry, however it starts, cleanly through R&D, costing, production, and delivery. If you're looking to build a custom ERP or workflow platform for a business with complex, branching processes, our team can help you go from concept to launch.
